Green Peas and Cabbage Palya

Palya is a side dish prepared with all varieties of vegetables. This is a dry dish which can be mixed with rice and eaten, or can be eaten with chappathis. Most people eat Palya with the Rice and Saaru(Rasam), or Rice and Huli as a side dish. For me its a best diet food because it hardly needs any oil and masala. Because you stir fry them it retains all its nutrients and tastes really good at a same time. Here is a recipe for preparing Cabbage and Green peas Palya. Very easy to cook and takes very little time.

Green Peas and Cabbage Palya

Ingredients:
1/2 head Cabbage, slice it thinly
1/2 cup boiled green peas
3 green Chillies, slit
1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
1 tsp Mustard seeds
1 tsp Urad Dal
1 Dry Red Chilli
1 tsp chopped Coriader leaves
2 tbsp Oil
Salt to taste

Green Peas and Cabbage Palya

Method:
Heat the oil in a saucepan. Add Mustard seeds, Urad Dal, Red Chilli and allow to splutter.
Then add green chillies and fry for few seconds.
Add cabbage, salt, turmaric powder and little water. Cover the pan and cook for about 10 minutes, or until the cabbage is just soft.
Now add boiled green peas, salt and simmer for 5-8 minutes.
Garnish with coriader leaves and serve hot with Chapatis/Rice.

  3. Hi Supriya,
Just answered your comment on my blog and came here.
    nice pics and nice recipes.
Just wanted to ask you that how do u manage this blog, i am little new to it . I want to know the list of item you provided on side bar i.e. breakfast & brunch, evening snacks...... etc, is this readily available on blog template or u made it ? coz i have seen the same kind of list items on many blogs, so I wonder wether all r making it by programming or it is somewhere readily available in blog templates. I hope u don't mind answering my question.
    Thanks in advance.

  4. Hi Pooja,
the lists r not available in template. I have put a new XML/HTML code to get a drop down list. You can get this code in my blog itself by right clicking and selecting view source code... then copy and paste the code in your blog and change the URL from my blog id to yours...
Hope u got the answer. If u still have any problem finding the code just let me know...
    Happy blogging
    cheers

  9. Dear Supriya,
Thanks for answering my query. I was just wondering that everyone having lists on blog is written /copied code for this or what? that's why I asked you about that. Thanks for your generosity to allow me to copy your code :) . But I hope I'll not need that, Basically I am a Software Engineer, better I might do it on own. Hubby told me this to do so many times but just I was curious that is there any such thing readily available somewhere on beta version of blogger. ;) .
Well thanks agian. I ll be in touch with you. :)
    Take care

  16. Hi Supriya,

Wow...it was too simple, too great. My hubby, who is from Orissa always longs for simple veggie dishes..and this one was a feast to him..We loved it absolutely. Thanks. But I did made a small change...I added a tsp of Dhaniya powder as flavour at the end..and it came out wonderful. Kudos to you..
